"Being Green" can save energy and increase the value of your Surrey Green Hope Valley real estate
It is expensive to replace existing landscapes and takes more water to establish. Replacing sod costs an average of $1-1.50 per square foot, or $1,500 for a 1,000- square-foot lawn. The average size of a lawn along the Front Range is around 5,000 square feet – that could mean more than $5,000 in replacement costs. Additionally, replacing sod will consume more water down the road than from maintaining the current landscape. www.greenco.org

Landscape Appraisal
Appraisal of landscape plants is not a precise process. Often, the opinion of an expert plantsman or consulting arborist is required, especially in the case of claims, which are decided through litigation. However, homeowners can get some idea of the value of their landscape plants by following the procedures outlined in this bulletin. In some cases, a value determined by the homeowner may be sufficient to settle a claim, or to satisfy the IRS.

Studies report that investments in Landscape design increase the value of real estate
According to Money Magazine (May 2003), spending on landscape design and installation has more than tripled in the past five years, hitting $14.3 billion in 2002. And no wonder–it offers the best return on investment of any home improvement you can make.

Redoing your landscape? Better do it for your own pleasure because you can't count on how much your investment will pay off.
That's the conclusion of a University of Florida researcher who conducted the first-ever scientific study of the value of upgrading landscaping around single-family homes. Variables such as lot size, plant type, plant spacing and overall design all played roles in how much money homeowners could expect to get back come resale time.
"More than anything, homeowners should landscape their homes for their own enjoyment," said Bob Degner, director of the Florida Agricultural Market Research Center at UF's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. "You might come close to doubling your money when you sell, or you might recover only a fraction of your investment, but the investment payoff shouldn't be your primary motivation." More than Just Curb Appeal- Landscaping can add value during the sale of a Surrey Green Hope Valley home
The Grass is Greener A 1998 University of Florida study confirms that homes with tidy yards sell 15 days faster than their shabby counterparts. Research on Home Values Landscaping's effect on home values varies, according to a 1998 University of Florida study. Lot size, plant type, plant spacing and overall design all play roles in how much money homeowners reap from their beautification efforts at resale time. The report states that homeowners added a lot of color to their yard if they wanted a quick sell, while those who were more concerned about a long-term payoff focused on trees and shrubs that would grow over time. Survey of home owner Landscaping views
Ninety percent of home owners agree that having a well-maintained lawn improves property values; but only 12% would use a hypothetical $5,000 windfall to upgrade their home landscaping.
That's just one of the surprising results from new consumer research released here by the Evergreen Foundation. The foundation's adherents say this new research on consumer attitudes demonstrates how important it is for the Green Industry to begin a proactive public relations campaign to educate consumers on the value of well-maintained green spaces.
The foundation began the kickoff of fundraising for its "Get Green" PR initiative at the Green Industry Expo here with a press conference to release the results of October 2003 research into consumer knowledge and attitudes towards the Green Industry. A proposed national public relations initiative is planned for late 2004. Landscape Management www.landscapemanagement.net/

LANDSCAPING'S EFFECT ON HOME VALUES, University of Florida STUDY
One thing that did seem fairly certain, according to the study: Freshening up your yard makes homes sell faster -- 15 days faster in one case.
"Getting a $100,000 home off the market two weeks faster is important," Degner said. "Even at today's relatively low interest rates, it could save $300 or so in interest as well as reduce the seller's anxiety level." Trees and plants reduce pollution and improve air quality
The buffering and filtering effect of plants and trees has been the focus of joint Research from Southampton University and Southampton General Hospital in Great Britain. The leaves of trees and plants have been shown to remove gaseous pollutants, aerosols and dust from the atmosphere.
In addition, they intercept the particulates from diesel fumes, which are linked to chronic respiratory problems. Plants also remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, leading to a direct improvement in air quality. Further, trees and plants around offices and homes provide a buffer that helps reduce noise levels. Dutch Industry Nursery Association http://www.hollandnurserynews.com/feb_03/index.html
